Title: Need new comp!
Post by: Armonde on August 19, 2009, 02:05:09 PM
The last time I built my own PC was back when pentium 4 was teh hotness, so I'm like 900 years out of date.
Is this worth a crap, or should I keep shopping or reconsider building one on my own.

Personally, I like to know what components are in my machine and I can't seem to find out where they list that.  TigerDirect has a 1gb machine that I just got an email on.... link here....

It's not a quad core, but at least you have something to compare to.  I just bought some components from TigerDirect for my new build and I actually found the prices to be cheaper than Newegg for exactly the same thing and also saved over $20 on the shipping too.  Personally, I always look around because when I was selling on the net I found that Newegg could be beat if you shopped a few sites.

Right above the customer reviews there's a spec tab on the link i posted Hawkes. They lack detail on some parts tho i guess.

honestly, these days i'd just buy a computer. spec'ing out parts and building one isn't going to save you that much money. and its just a big hassle. dell has some great deals on their refurbished machines. my 2 cents.

I bought a cheap dell ($400) and then added some RAM and a video card AND upgraded a power supply....so total about 550.
