The Star Trek Online beta is taking applications for anyone that is interested.

You have to set up an account on the site and log into it before it will take you to the beta app page.  There is also a link on the main page of the site.

I am going to give this a shot, but i think they really missed the idea here. Everyone as a captain? What if you want to join starfleet and progress through the ranks and then get a job on a ship run by another person as security officer or engineer ( have ship itself be a guild like thing)? What if you just want to be a Ferengi and steal shit from people and bartter and trade? Work your way up to the Klingon high council buy bringing honor your your family name (klingon guild) A lot could have been done that way.

But, alas. My nerdgasm must wait.

Yeah I thought about signing up, but I also read that they auto signing people up that are paid for like 6 months or lifetime on Champions Online. That tells me right off the first beta is already filled with those people and they really not going to invite anymore large numbers until open beta. I think the chance is too low for me to care about. I will give it a trial when that comes out.
