BITTERLY COLD WIND CHILL READINGS WILL CONTINUE OVERNIGHT AS
TEMPERATURES FALL TO A RANGE FROM 2 DEGREES ABOVE TO 5 DEGREES
BELOW ZERO. WHEN COMBINED WITH WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH...WIND CHILLS
OF 15 TO 25 DEGREES BELOW ZERO WILL BE COMMON.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN
FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.

I ventured out, 10 feet to the door to check the heat tape on the water pipes. It wasn't plugged in, so I had to pick up the cord and plug it into a metal receptacle.

My thumb froze to the back of the socket housing within 3 seconds.

I really need some gloves. Anyone else feeling a bit chill?

In Columbus at the moment: 2 degrees, -16 with the wind chill.  Yep, it's fucking cold, I'm at work, and the fuel pump in my Jeep is acting up so I have to drop it into neutral and feather the throttle to keep it running whenever I stop moving.  Sweet.

It is 80 in Florida. Not to be mean, but to be honest, was kinda pissed it snowed in Las Vegas and I am sweating working outside in FL. I want some damn snow :-( I hate FL

I'll take -16 over having my house burn down due to a wild-fire any day.  I'm sure California is lovely, but that shit is happening way too often these days.

For all of you in the frozen North, my words of wisdom for the day: buy an anti-freeze tester and make sure you are good to -30F - don't trust what the mechanic says!  My car overheated in less than 2 miles this morning, (2 degrees, -16 w.c. at the time) cause the dingleberry mechanic that worked on my coolant system two months ago couldn't master the intricacies of anti-freeze.
