Ive used LOL for a long time thinking it was one thing, but then if mentioned to others ive found they think it means something else. What do you think?

Originally, I heard it was Laugh Out Loud, however I believe it's evolved into more, as people will use it a variety of ways.  Sometimes just to show something is meant as a joke, or to indicate you got the joke.

ahh yes, ye ole yonder days of teh internet when having 28.8 connect was considered epic over 14.4, and the $200 monthly bills from swearing in an AOL chat room.

Mr Nightstalker is correct, the original AOL definition was definately "Laugh Out Loud".

I remember the days when only the rich kids had the 56k modems.  They would laugh at their awesome ability to surf the net 4 seconds faster than you. 

I was the 1st kid in my neighborhood to have a hard drive

All 10mb of it, and big as a toaster (and just as noisy)

lol(there it goes) I remember when I 1st bought my computer my friend told me "im hooking you up with a 65k modem and thats fast man. omg does were the days. anyhow, regarding your poll, Lol means laughing out loud but sultress is right ppl use it for alot more things.
I remember one time I was chatting with my friend and he had his webcam on and I said a joke and he put 'lol' and he wasnt even laughing on the webcam  :'( Im like "dude I can see you right now and you didnt even laugh. stop bsing!" lol  :P

Besides the Apple IIe      I most remeber droolin over the 486     someware between the to i figuured out the girls were cooler then computer.
