Title: Shaman Duelbot build (for KD)
Post by: Nightstalker on November 28, 2007, 05:56:02 AM
The resto build with elemental gear..

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html?2500305500000000000000000000000000000000052030050005313505301

You get tidal mastery and call of thunder which adds 11% chance to crit with lightning / chain L. which is a higher total than call of thunder + totem of wrath

Your damage will come from shocks, fire totems, and the optional natures - swiftness / chain L. combo.

you trade the big crits from elemental fury for the higher average damage to spells and healing from natures blessing which is good for pvp since resiliance reduced crit damage and crit chance as it is. its also good for pve as you dont spike in threat.

if you are attacked by melee your game is to drop fire totem, shock, and heal between the shock cooldowns.

you will go full + dmg gear, but some + healing wont hurt as it adds to earthshield healing and to +dmg now anyways.

Season 1 arena set is also nice in that you get 70 chance to stop interrupt while casting lightning bolt.

with approx 10k armor, 10k health, and earthshield, rogues are nullified.

Interesting build.  I don't think I'd use it for PvE, but it's quite intriguing.  Although it is quite difficult to find gear (esp Mail gear) that has just +spell dmg without having +mp5 or +spell crit, etc.  You could probably make it work though somehow.  It looks like it could be hugely successful in PvP though.

I've noticed that threat spikes have been mitigated quite drastically due to the changes with patch 2.3 (LO causes no threat).  Also, any good Elemental spec will go for tidal mastery as well, while also getting ToW.  ToW of course also gives its benefit to the rest of the party as well, so the utility of the elemental spec increases drastically for caster parties in raids.  In PvP though, I tend to not use it as often while in raids I use it constantly.

All of that being said, with the changes in 2.3 I had been thinking of something along these lines for a PvP build.  Being full-elemental spec, I can say that I am quite squishy in BGs and arena, and having the survivability that earthshield and NS gives you (among the other resto talents) would be worth the reduction in dps.  Having a pocket pally follow me around is an amazing thing though...I was laying waste in AV the other day lol.  (thanks Troyer!)

The spec you have there is definately a PURE PvP spec IMO, and I'm not sure it would be anywhere near as viable in PvE as my spec or the inverse of my spec as a healer.  Definitely would be superior in especially Arena, and to a large extent BGs.  I'm really curious to see how this play tests!  Keep us posted KD!
