Stallionite

If I have you in the wrong column or missed you period please say so. It is late.

I will be posting Hotel Ideas along with websites that will then be put up for vote within the next few weeks . I'm not trying to rush it, we have a ton of time and I don't want to wear out the idea but for those (myself included) who are going to have to save some cash and beg Artic to come pick us up. I would like to give us a good idea of where when and a rough estimate of how much it will cost. Plus we want to book early as to save money on hotel ect...

Hotel Ideas so far:

Flamingo
Caesars Palace
Hard Rock
Monte Carlo
Golden Nugget
Benions
Westin
New Orleans hotel

if you have anymore ideas suggestions criticisms say so now!

For those of you still on the fence about coming TRUST every time the wolvies get together we have an awesome time, and everyone should go to Vegas! I promise it will be worth the time and effort put into making the trip. It will be a once in a life time thing that will never be able to be duplicated.

I don't know if the rest of you get the feeling that I do working 40+ hours a week and never seeming to make any significant progress as to my financial or life situation in general but I know I'm do for a break and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Just the idea of taking a trip got me really excited just a chance to think about something other than work. I'm going to drone away at my job for the next 9 months put aside a little dough and then, have the time of my life with my friends in vegas! It will be worth every penny I can't think of anyway I would rather spend it.  ;)

Put me down as a Maybe.

Last time I was in Vegas, we stayed at the New Orleans hotel. It's only a little but off the strip, 15 minute walk, and has a free shuttle to the strip.

my feelings on this

If I can consider going and stuff, then whats everyone elses excuse?
I have to fly over the ocean on a 16hr+ flight...which is going to cost about AU$2000
but i DO have other motivation for going to the states...

I mean, i'll only be at the wolvie gathering IF i'm still there, or due to fly back to the states anyway

Cost is the biggest factor for me. I think everything is going to based around that. Unno, sense you seem the most organized here, why dont you look into some group rates for the rest of us. I know that sometimes if you book a big group you get your room for free (you may have to ask for it so dont be shy when you talk to them) so there is some incentive in it for you. Check Fremont street as well as the big strip.

As soon as we decide on hotel I will start working them over. The idea will be to make it affordable to everyone and I don't think we will have any trouble meeting that goal.

Hard Rock is a lot of fun but spendy. If we could get a good rate there go for it. I hear good stuff about the Westin too.

If I go I want group snuggles! My wife seemed a little leary about going to spend a weekend with a bunch of nerds, but she didn't outright say I can't go. It will really depend on whether or not we buy a house between now and then, which I think we may.

Children Children.....  The advantage to being the senior citizen, TIME SHARE!!!   We'll be in a suite in the hilton while you bums are knocking to be let in!  Orcettea and I wouldnt miss it!   The other thing to consider,  There are options through others time shares as well called burn weeks or short weeks.  if we get close, and get two maybe three suites somewhere on a burn week list, we could have a suite sleeping 6 to 12 for $100.00 for a week. So we dont stay a week doesnt mean we cant use them.  Just something to keep in mind.  But someone will have to be the "RESPONSIBLE ADULT" and sober enough to run the video cam at all times!  And we will stay wherever the group stays, were not spoil sports!

Alright guys were gona have fun no matter what but here we go. A short review of each and their website. I did what I call a test stay on each of them just to give you an idea of what they would cost if we were to book them right now it might be a little more or a little less but this should give you a pretty good idea. The test stay is 3nights 4days June'09 12-15th. This isn't a set date or anything just for giggles. Take your time no rush the poll and sites will be up as long as we need them to be so we can all discuss what we like and what we don't

The Flamingo Center of the Strip. It is a Harrahs hotel so like Apone was talking about if you sign up for there gold thing you get sweet deals. Jaz likes the pool. Test stay 535.00
http://www.harrahs.com/casinos/flamingo-las-vegas/hotel-casino/property-home.shtml

Ceasers Palace is a Harrahs hotel as well. advertises Luxury . More pricey but very very nice lots of cool stuff and we could all go see Cher live! Test stay $800.00
http://www.harrahs.com/casinos/caesars-palace/hotel-casino/property-home.shtml

The Hard Rock Has awesome musical events year round. It is definitly nice. From what I can tell is very expensive unless I'm missing something $1,097.00  test stay.
http://www.hardrockhotel.com/

Monte Carlo AAA Four Diamond hospitality and 24-hour service. Honestly I expected this to be more expensive it looks really nice and the price is reasonable. If we were to book right now for a test stay= 349.85. A suite 644.85 and those room rates could be split between two people if you know a wolvie you like enough.
http://www.montecarlo.com/

The Golden Nugget Off the strip but I hear Fremont street is a blast (and cheap) . 317.00 test stay. We will definitly be visiting here for Mac and Cheese if nothing else.
http://www.goldennugget.com/home.asp

BinionsGot to love Poker. This one is on Fremont street as well. Lots of poker <3 a steakhouse nice accommodation's. They don't allow you to book on their site or see prices....lame I'll call them and get prices when I have more time.
http://www.binions.com/index.html

Westin Back on the strip and obviously high high class. Beautiful rooms dinning area ect.. real crystal glasses look at the pictures the place is tight. Test stay 555.39.
http://specialoffers.starwoodhotels.com/westin_casuarina/so.aqf?PS=PS_aa_Southwest_Google_westin_vegas_040908_NAD_FM

The Orleans Off the strip on fremont street the offer shuttle service to diffrent places as well as the strip. The rooms are really nice they have a friggin spa not that I would take my shirt off in front of some dame and let her put hot rocks on me. Really nice and very very affordable. Test stay 267.00$ That is two queens so 133.50 a piece if you had to bunk up tell me thats not affordable.

Personally so far I really like the flamingo cool ass bars on the property, spa sweet pool and any of the Harrahs hotels= "Guests of Harrah’s six Las Vegas resorts can enjoy top-rated golf at two of the nation’s most beautiful golf courses - Cascata Golf and Rio Secco." look at the pictures of these courses omg waterfalls streams mountains there incredible. And I can totally see me and Jaz chilling at the sweet ass pool in one of the private cabanas complete with a TV, mini fridge, and a personal host to attend to your every wish…
:-D

Although I think the best Value has to be the Monte Carlo 359.85  can't beat that.

Well, I already voiced the Orleans due to price and still good accessability. The room are really nice and the casino isn't bad either. if you get a room on the right side, you can actually get a decent view of the strip. However, I would go to the flamingo just for the fact that when my then-fiance (now wife) were driving thro9ugh the town and passed it, she said "Look, the Flaming-O!"

Let me make a plug here -- we have some time to save, so let's shoot for the moon. I don't know when another opportunity like this will come around where people (like me) who don't get to see the people we've known for years come together in Vegas.

Fremont is a nice place; it's affordable, and there's still lots to do down there. But I submit that the extra money you invest in staying on the strip will be WELL worth it. The Flamingo has a great pool. I've never stayed at the Flamingo, but there's a lot on that side of the Blvd (like Margaritaville) -- and you're right across the street from my personal favorite Caesars!!!

We would definately still spend some time down in fremont street since its the easiest place to drink for the least amount of money.

if I go I want to stay somewhere where I don't get weird skin rashes and the where firmness of the mattress isn't from the 30 years of dried semen soaking it. Also if I am going to get crabs I want to get them from a hooker...not a toilet seat

Yes....im a little spoiled....also there is a elevated tram and cabs so getting anywhere is a piece of cake.

If its just a matter of 100-200 dollars between the Orleans and Monte Carlo, then its a no brainer, but any more than that and gets a little diffucult. The only other thing to consider here is gambling costs. The big name casino's have way higher table limits. 10 Dollar min a hand opposed to 2-5 dollar a hand. Not really an issue though as you can take a cab whereever, but you do get comps if you gamble where you stay. I guess I am little more into gambling than everyone else and honestly it doesnt really matter to me where we stay. Just wanted to throw it out there as it hasent been brought up and the people who havent been to vegas me not know.

OH I will be gambling like a mad man till all hours of the morning...or until all my monies are gone.

Just make sure to ration your money, our company went out a few years ago and one of the guys we knew tagged along on the drive out.  We drive a trailer out to set up our display at the SEMA trade show every year.  Well this guy goes out his first night there and gambles away until the early hours of the morning until the ATM said he hit his limit for the day and wouldn't let him draw anymore money out.  Needless to say after dumping $3000+ into Vegas in one night he was spent, hopped a plane and flew home.

Now I know this may not be a lot of money to some of the big gamblers in vegas but shit that would have left me curled up in a ball and crying my eyes out.

Title: Re: WOLVIE GATHERING : Operation Vegas Part 2
Post by: Unnormal on September 12, 2008, 09:29:55 PM
Oh and just in case you missed it or didn't understand the test stay is for 4day 3night stay so those of you determined to stay only two nights the prices will be even less. We had a tie with our how long to party poll (see http://www.thewolverines.net/forums/index.php?topic=3344.0) so we will plan like were going to stay  3 nights and if those of you who voted to stay only 2nights can just factor that in.

Hmm how much is that suite? that looks nice.

If the majority of us bunk that, we can save on cash.

if it's 2 bedrooms with beds each, that can be 8 people with 2 in each bed with heterosexual arrangement, and 2 additional folks on the couch. After being drunk I dont think concern would be placed as to where folks would sleep. I'd gladly stay on a couch hehe.

2 man heterosexual placement in a bed;

I hope you all know I have been working my ass off for you :-D I have been trading emails with Ian Zeitzer
Leisure Sales Manager for Harrahs Hotels in Vegas. He said as long as we book ten rooms he can offer us a pretty hefty discount at the two Harrah's hotels I told him we were looking at.

Flamingo- 375$!!! down from 535$

Ceasers- 660$ down from 800$

I'm pretty psyched, those of you who are getting pissy because you don't like ethier of those don't worry I have made phone calls and sent emails to many other hotels including the Orleans as soon as I hear from them I will let you know.

Thanks for all your hard work, Luke.

Good job on these deals. This makes the Flamingo look a lot better. I almost want to see how low you can get the Orleans for.

It's the Systems Manager position for the John Glenn School of Public Affairs.  Basically, I would be in charge of all IT management and support for their college.  Much more responsibility, less work than I do now, authority to make policy decisions so things aren't all fucked up like they are here at the libraries, work in a building with a piece of moon rock in it, and a LOT more money.  A.  LOT.  MORE.

Just heard back from the Orleans I was very disappointed they quoted me the same prices that we would have gotten booking individually on their website right now :-( So the
Orleans is still 267$ Fremont street
The flamingo is 375$ on the strip
I think it would be worth the 100$ bucks

Wanted to go ahead and give this a bump. The prices given are for availability right now and if say some huge convention decides to come to town in June and we haven't decided yet the prices may go up. As soon as we decide and I call the dudes prices should be set in stone.

Title: Re: WOLVIE GATHERING : Operation Vegas Part 2
Post by: Unnormal on September 22, 2008, 04:38:26 PM
This price will get you 4days and 3 nights in beautiful Las Vegas Nevada! Las Vegas Spanish for "The Meadows" is the most populous city in the state of Nevada. Established in 1905, Las Vegas officially became a city in 1911. According to the 200 census The African American population of Las Vegas is 0.75%.
I am also guessing this doesn't include airfare?
No it does not include air fair which should be cheap 99$ where I live, Juggy was saying 130$ where he is at if memory serves.

Title: Re: WOLVIE GATHERING : Operation Vegas Part 2

Airfare is so volatile right now. I'd wait until March of '09 to start pricing this piece out.

Unno, thanks for all of the hard work.

Just wondering, have you tried to check prices with a travel agent to see if they can get you any better prices.  Might also talk to a travel agent about travel arrangements. I know it's possible to tie in a group of peeps flying from different cities into the same package for prices and flight times so that might be something to look at.  I think most of us that will be going will probably be flying in.

It might be something to look at even if the travel agent has a little higher price for the hotels, we might make out in the end by booking the flights and hotel through them.  Just my thoughts.

Also with these prices would you need the entire amount upfront from us to book the room, could we put a smaller amount down to secure the room.  Would we need to send the money to you so you could book them all at the same time or would you just set aside X number of rooms under the wolvie name and we pay for the rooms individually?

The wife and I are seriously thinking about going just need to get a couple things cleared up before we can make a final decision.

Title: Re: WOLVIE GATHERING : Operation Vegas Part 2
Post by: Garenth on September 22, 2008, 05:33:38 PM
I've always flown Southwest to Vegas which tends to be one of the cheaper flights out there and unfortunately they don't do first class or any class everything is the same it just depends on when you print your tickets to when you board.  If you get an A boarding pass you can board first and choose where you are going to sit.

After we are for sure about what hotel we are staying in I'll look further into what we can pull off.
I think the best option would be for all the C-bus guys to get together and see if you can't get flights for cheap. Where I live there is a little airline that fly's form here to Vegas and orlando for 99$ a pop. I would think in a bigger city like the c-bus you would have something similar.

I think once we set up the hotel thing we can all call on our own when ready let them know your with our group and pay for the hotel. I will contact the dude and clarify how that works.

Unless I'm mistaken I believe that is what we are getting. As the lowest room selection option is the Go Deluxe rooms. Unless they reserve some shitty rooms for large groups, which I highly doubt. IF we stay there there is a number you can call and tell them your with the wolverines group and discuss arangments.

On the Las Vegas Strip of Las Vegas, Nevada, unlike every other locality in Nevada, city law allows the possession and consumption on the street of any alcoholic beverage in an open container throughout the year, although the container must be plastic for certain special events such as the 4th of July and New Year's Eve. Because Nevada has no state public open container law, the city law governs. Although open containers usually are allowed throughout the rest of Las Vegas, they are prohibited at certain times of the year, except in the Strip

We have been talking about Early June so everyone is out of school and everyone has plenty of time to get a few days off work as well as save money. I used 12-15th of June09 as test stay=fri, sat, sun leave on Mon and Unless someone has an major problem with those dates I say we stick with them.

FFS you realize that that video shows two different rooms right?! The first half is a FLamingo GO room which is there typical nice room. THEN in the second half of the video it says or you can upgrade to such and such a suit and it goes on with the suit description.

Suit Test stay= 2365$
