Title: BSG....teh ending....(may be spoilers if you didn't see it)
Post by: Stugots on March 23, 2009, 03:26:41 AM
OK, so............  I finally sat down and watched the final episode of BSG.

While watching it I thought it was cool.

Here I am a day later, and thinking.  Man...I wouldn't do what they did.

Any thoughts?

All previous seasons are on DVD, except the 2nd half of the 4th (final) season.

Stu,
I kind of liked it. At first, i thought the whole angel thing felt tacked on, but if you think about the last 2-3 seasons it does make sense. I did like it. The only thing that i scratch my head over is that ending comment.

Caprica: "Let a complex system repeat itself long enough and eventually something surprising might occur. That too [something surprising] is in God's plan."

Gais: "You know he doesn't like that name. [Touches glasses.] Silly me. Silly, silly me."

What was that all about?

I'm just sayin' I woulda landed a ship and lived outta that or something.

I didn't mind the angel angle.

As far as their comment, I have no clue.

Well, I think there thing was NOT to repeat the past, to throw a wrench in it so to speak. But as it turned out things happened the way they did all over again. So it may have been that was how it happened before anyway and if they would have lived out of the ship that may have broken the cycle.
But yea. And im not sure why Adama would want to exile himself from his son like that.

Terrible.

You have the ability to travel anywhere in the galaxy, and you give that away.  "Let's go native."

No, someone, I don't know, the scientist, the doctor?  Any officer of the fleet?  Someone needs to save all the knowledge and technology of their civilization.  Take the loopiest character from the worst incarnation of Star Trek, and they would beat some sense into someone in the BSG universe.

Terrible.

The angels thing was ok, but if the BSG god wants his people to go live in teepees, it's time to find a new god.

There was a growing theme of predestination vs free will and i think this ending fit well with that. That being said, if it were to make more sense they would have been able to find a inhabitable planet and hid from the cylons after season 2.  But that doesnt make for good tv.
There has been tons of loopholes. Remember when Boomer plugged in this wire to her arm? Wouldnt that be a good cylon check ? To see if there is a damn headphone jack in someone forearm? What was that scene with your T in Adama's flashback?
Moore was winging it for sure, season to season. But after its all said and done it was a good show, especially compared to the other garbage on TV.

One thing that did bug me though, was how Caviel bought the whole god thing so quickly. Kind of came off weird.
