Sorry about that.

If someone comes running up to you, asking you why you kept spamming  "Do you has" for party space in LFG, just let them know that it was the other guy.

Post by: Reddawn on September 22, 2009, 06:36:05 PM
yeah right now piquon, gr0n, Okarn and myself are playing....we are considering going back to our old characters on carbuncle but fret not I never levelled my Summoner.

Piquon - Monk
Okarn - BLM
gr0n - RMH
Me - WHM

So to continue our old party we'd just need a war/pal and a thief

Title: Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online
Post by: Stugots on September 23, 2009, 12:02:59 AM
You can buy stuff for yoru character.  And you can buy classes, and races etc etc.  I may try out one sometime.  I actually like the combat in it, more of fps style.

Red is making me play FFXI so I can't join you :(

I will download it and try it out anyway though.

Title: Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online
Post by: Dammit Dan on September 24, 2009, 05:14:17 PM
I think Red needs to keep the FFXI in its thread and since he attempted to hijack my thread he should give DDO a good long try

Title: Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online
Post by: Reddawn on September 24, 2009, 05:20:26 PM
I can shit up any thread I want....it's my right....and DDO sucked :P

Title: Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online
Post by: Dammit Dan on September 24, 2009, 05:51:06 PM
it's ok   i took a deuce in the FFXI thread for ya nad DDO doesn't suck. It is actually a very good representation of 3.0 and 3.5 rulesets and converted into a visual game very well

Title: Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online
Post by: Reddawn on September 24, 2009, 06:04:07 PM
yeah we'll 3.0/3.5 is for noobs.....4th EDITION FOR LIFE!

Title: Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online
Post by: Dammit Dan on September 24, 2009, 06:41:09 PM
4th ED kinda blows---i mean a cleric is a glorofied fighter for petes sake

they need to make 3.75- a combination of 3.5 and 4     and not where clerics can be tanks

i did like the idea of the special abilities but some of them need to be tuned down a bit

I cast Maggic Missle at the darkness

I almost spit my Mt.Dew all over the keyboard. Had I done so I would cease to exist because that would be keyboard #2 that belongs to Meowcow's wife that I killed. But I refrained from spitting, so I shall continue to exist.

Look at this little gem I picked up at the market for 150,000

That's medium armor.

So i'm going to roll a Drow Wiz for this.

He'll get the dex bonus making it 14 armor total, for the piece, so that's 24 ac there

Then add in the mage spell shield, will make it 28. And ghostly visage which will make mobs miss 50% of the time, this dude will be a savage.

Spell failure will just be 5% after racial enhancements

Does the Shield spell stack with armor? I know in Paper and Pencil AD&D it wouldnb't, besides the fact that wizards don't wear armor...

Yeah, I believe ive already tried it on one of the toons.

The spell registers for purposes of an actual shield, which stacks with armor.

I seen today that deflection stacks with armor as well, so with that, the armor and spell i'll easily be over 30 AC

Still, if luck is not on your side, godspeed to the DDOStore.

They have added the 32 point character builds to the DDO store now.

Also, if you have 1000 favor, you have the option to start at level 4 when making new characters

Title: Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online
Post by: Volk on November 03, 2009, 03:21:44 AM
Got my computer all set up, so I might start a character on DDO sometime. What's up with the micro-payment thing, though? What's the conversion ratio for USD:DDO points?

Title: Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online
Post by: Farkas on November 04, 2009, 12:29:57 AM
not enough to worry about  just  pay the $15 a mouth and get the 500 points every month, 10 character slots and free content and warforged race.

Title: Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online
Post by: Nightstalker on November 04, 2009, 02:05:52 AM
Or you can pay $0 and work up your reputation and get all of that for free.

No, you build up rep on a single character.

Post by: Nightstalker on November 08, 2009, 06:12:16 PM
night that takes forever. if i have to wait on content i might aswell play wow

Not really.

This aint anywhere near grinding levels of WoW, which is a played out game.

Title: Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online
Post by: Arctic on November 08, 2009, 11:25:09 PM
OK my 2 cents worth and i asked people who have been playing a while.  If you pay the monthly fee get all this cool shit then maybe not want to play that much or the monthly fee you lose all the content and stuff you received, now with the free account, while if you grind rep, maybe buy a few things, there attached to the account permanently.

Title: Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online
Post by: Farkas on November 09, 2009, 03:18:26 AM
not fully true. you do lose access to some stuff. but not all, there are 3 levels of the game  the free account the vip account and the one in between  cant remember what its called. Now if you cancel vip you drop down to the second level which still has 4 character slots  and a couple of other things plus you would still have the 500 points  that you got every month from having been a vip  to spend still seen as how there isnt really that much thats practical to spend them on unless you had to have a favored soul or something. Anyway i was only  putting the idea out there for people that didnt feel like doing rep grinds all over again.
On a side note there are  certain rep grinds that  you should do for the bonus items that you get from them

Title: Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online
Post by: Nightstalker on November 09, 2009, 05:07:13 AM
Rep grinds aren't anything like WoW.

You get the rep when you are leveling up, while doing quests for gear and gold.  Whereas with WoW you are doing that shit at your max level, doing ignorant shit like picking berry bushes and shit.

Title: Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online
Post by: Reddawn on November 09, 2009, 01:34:55 PM
WoW, which is a played out game.

which is different from DDO in that no one played it so they made it free :P  SUITE

Title: Re: Dungeons and Dragons Online
Post by: Nightstalker on November 09, 2009, 10:32:05 PM
People mostly bought into Blizzard hype and hysteria, which has made it successful. If Blizzard had made DDO, and WoC/Atari made WoW, it would be a different situation no question.

They buy into the Blizzard hysteria, which in turn enables gives them more revenues to enhance their product. Self perpetuating process.

Granted Blizzard can, and has put out some good merchandise, but if you take off the love goggles, you will see that many games are far superior in graphics and content, as compared to WoW's cartoon, Baskin Robbins graphics.

It's this hysteria that everyone has bought into, which everyone is playing, and this keeps it's people in locked in mental stasis.

I mean damn, take a minute to reflect the overview of the game. People spend hours a day clicking on berry bushes and literally sifting through dung for quests to build up "reputation", and for materials for a raid that may fail or not even happen at all. Really the only reputation being built here is the player's gullability to Blizzard, which is farming millions of people.

90% preparation vs 10% experience.

Whereas a game like Planetside is completely opposite, 10% / 90%  but has had the misfortune of not being published under a monster like Blizzard. And despite not having had the luxury of such a brand name and it's followers, the game would have been much more successful if SoE had at least lifted its ass up to work on it every now and then.

Reflecting on WoW, its amazing that I played as long as I did, though only contributed to a just over par PVP system. It's really annoying that gear was the critical factor there, and the targeting combat system ignorant.

Just sayin'

DDO gave me 1111 turbine points for being a veteran.

edit: I have now made a Human Paladin to check the game with. Still learning the controls.
