Title: Need a cheap PC to act as a server? Look here... this won't last long...

For $179.99 after rebate, you get a pretty decent foundation for a file server or music and movies server.  Add a few more pieces and you can still get away with a decent machine for under $500.

or you could save yourself some time, money, and hassle of administrating another box and buy this when it comes out this month:

Good find though, Hawkes.  If I needed a cheap box I would snap one of these up.

Pretty sweet!

Although there's no hard drive(s) or DVD drive...but that would be easy and cheap to remedy.  Not too shabby if you're looking for something to play around with.

BTW, I was curious and took a look on Dell's refurb site and they have a complete PowerEdge T105 chassis, AMD Sempron - 2200, 1GB RAM, 250GB HDD, for $259.  Other models include Dual-core Opteron 1800s with 4GB of RAM and dual 160GB HDDs with DVD-ROM for $459.  There's loads of them out there...and right now their site is a little overloaded it appears...was getting some web server errors lol.

Just sayin'.
