this is supposed to be a big upgrade from the first one, i played it a little on my friends PS3 since they were having a beta on it and it feels alot like battlefield 2 it was awesome.

loved battlefield 2.  If MW2 had vehicles I'd probably be more into it.

I played the beta on PS3. Like the vehicles, but the FPS aspect isn't as good as MW2. So if there was a MW2 FPS and a BF2 vehicle game combined in one, would be sweet. Wonder if that is what MAG is like? Don't know, plan on disappearing into FFXIII in 7 days.

The game is prtty sweet. The environments looked great, I loved the destructable.. everything that they added in.  I didn't have too many gameplay problems running at medium on visuals.

You kids need to grow up and use wolvie TS though.  :P

I'll try to put together a list of known issues for everyone since I get them for the server..... I think it's a known issue that they are working on... it's EA's authentication and not the actual server.

I finally got logged in but was never able to pull a server list....so I played a little singeplayer

I am just shocked they have this many issues with authentication...It just feels like there are way too many steps involved for the simple minded to connect online to this game.  I couldn't even imagine trying to join through steam.

The best runs I have against getting into a game is if you

Login First
Pick your soldier first
Then try and join a game or Open the server browser

Also I would assume I need to play an entire match in our server for it to show up in History?
I added before I joined the game, but its neither here (Favorites) or there (History).
I hope they get their act together I do enjoy this game.

Well...after a LONG and aggravating battle I got online. Haven't been able to get on Full Metal Chicken since it seems to be full a lot. The time I did play it was fun. Vehicles seemed cool and the little remote control helicopter was pretty fun.

I dont know if its just this game or what but I find it extremely frustrating. I am going to try MW2 tomorrow and see if it makes me want to punch a hole thru my monitor.

singleplayer is about 6 hours long. WAY short. The levels are really cool. Vehicles are neat also. I just seem to get shot every 5 seconds.

I like BC2 just wish I had more time/energy to play.

Single player is good.  Not quite as challenging or amazing as MW2's SP was.

Multi-player is great, if and when you can get on a fucking server.  After you die you have to sit out for five or ten seconds like in the other BF games, but then it takes another 5-10 seconds to reload after that.  The server browser is fucking ATROCIOUS.  Takes a solid 5 minutes to load.  Then if you want to add a server to favorites...good luck.  That'll take another 10 minutes if it even works.  There's really no excuse for this shit.

I dunno...when I play multiplayer i don't seem to have those problems.  Well, except the sitting out when killed one.  That's annoying, but I just accept its part of the game, and that if I sucked less it wouldnt happen as much.

I still think it is pretty fun.  ON the whole, I think MW2 is a better game all around, but other than that it is still a pretty good game.  I am trying to learn how to suck less at it though.

I agree... I don't seem to have that many problems and if you can't find a server than you aren't on the FMC server you douchebag.  The server has not been at capacity since the weekend so there's no excuse to have your ass on any other server.  I can't say that spawning takes any longer than it did in PS when you sucked and died a lot and if the Killcam is off on the server like ours is then it's even faster.

I was on the FMC server last night with Phazzy.  Took me 5 minutes to pull up the server list, but I was on. 

i am loving it. for some reason though I am crashing to desktop randomly and I think i need a new motherboard and cpu. I will be playing still but if you see me bail thats what happened, should be right back on.

Yeh i have the same probs Red.  With picking people up, I chalk it up to age personally, eyesight not what it used to be.

I would support coupons for laser eye surgery being placed in game boxes. One of those weird people that things glasses are the devil, and would never take the time to even attempt contacts. Yet age is starting to take its effect on my eyes.

Finally got frustrated enough to nuke AVG from my computer.  That has sped up the getting back in after dying and general game performance.  The server browser is still a joke.

Ok, once you get it there's a few things to do:

1) Kill your AV software
2) Go to c:\users\you\documents\bfbc2\settings.ini and change the dxversion setting to 9 instead of auto, then change your field of view setting (FOV) according to the calculator here: http://badcompanytwo.com/news-tidbits/bc2-field-of-view-guide/
3) Enjoy reasonable server load times, 90 degree fov, better frames/sec, and killing strangers.  Just went 16/4 and my hope in this game is renewed.

Server browser is still shit, though.

sadly the PC version is a sorry port of the PS3. I have it on PS3 and its pretty much flawless as far as performance goes.

My version on PC has been flawless...in MP mode anyway, for some reason I can't continue the single player mode, just stops running when I do.

My question is...where has everyone been on the wolverine server?  I have been wanting to play but I can only smash down so many buildings with a tank going solo for so long.  I mean, its mindless destructive fun, but want to do some more than just that.

I just got on a server and literally was killed every 5 seconds......sigh. I'll do a wolvie night but I must be too fucking retarded for normal servers. I'm alive less than the 80000 second respawn time. I need to stop buying these fucking games

I am actually starting to get better at this game, little by little my kill/death ratio is becoming positive.

In case anyone playing didnt know this, hit "Q" if you see an enemy, it will mark him for the rest of your squad and if someone else kills him you get assist points.

Sorry I haven't responded.  Yes we can password the server for a wolvies night.... that's not a problem.  The problem is me deciding if I want to continue the server.  Payment is due on April 2nd and the server ranking has dropped consistently for the past two weeks so I'm not sure it's worth keeping up just for us.

Also, I guess it depends on what server you are joining and what mode.  If I know in advance I could reserve a night of gaming to join everyone, but like Stugots, there have been too many nights I've sat in the server only for no one to show up.

I wish we could host an MW2 server.


Oh and there was a patch system wide the other day that supposedly was helping to fix the server browser issues.  Has anyone seen a difference?

Red was the server 18/32 our server?  if the host puts too many names in the reserved slots section of the server config, it will not let the server fill.  Rather than just kick someone when a reserved nick joins, it will hold that spot perpetually.

Yeah that was the problem then.  They put too many names in the list.  It's better to manage it at the server real time otherwise if you put 8 names in there, that's 8 less players that can get on your server.

Yep, majer and I played it a bit yesterday and going to sit down for some more today.  Now the only thing I wish they'd fix is the "friend request" part.  Cant tell you how many times I tried sending majer a friend request and vice versa that never went through.  Or the "history" tab.  blah.

Yeah, let me know too.  The "add to favourites" thing is all wonky.  It takes so long to try to add to favourites that I'm often kicked from my login for inactivity.  The only "fix" I could find on the forum is to load the full menu then do a search for the server to bring it up alone but perhaps the search is VERY case sensitive because it never brings it up for me and then I have to do a full refresh all over again.   
Hopefully this is the first thing in the next patch that they address.

Go to C:\...\my documents\bfbc2\ and open the GameSettings.ini file in Notepad.

Scroll down to the bottom and replace the "Empty" after "favoritegames" with the following:

Also, see my earlier instructions for changing field of view and forcing directx 9 for better framerates.  This game is pretty good once you figure out how to bypass the bullshit.

yeah, already increased my FOV as per your info.  I don't think I have to worry about the framerates since this comp is rocking the house.  I'll slap in the favourites info.

I actually just started playing BC2 this past week. It's taking me a while to get used to the game play. I've been all CoD all the time, and this aint CoD, thankfully. I like the game even though it can be frustrating as hell sometimes.
