I think both partys are to fault here.

If you have that many officers over a student, then you have the situation under control and there is no need to use a tazer.

But according to the AP, the kid had actually been up there for several minutes, the video is a bit misleading in that you see him ask half a question before being asked by police to stop, when it was more because he had his fill of questions and had been asked to step down.  Then he continued to resist the police, which you just. dont. do.

So IMO its a case of some idiot kid making a scene out of nothing and some officers who lost their cool.  IMO, it shouldn't be a news story.

Paul lets be honest here, all this is was an attempt to protect the would be prestige of the school in question. If the roles were reversed and the student was upstage holding a rally on government corruption and John Kerry got up to emotionally defend his view on the outcome of the previous election, you think they would taz John Kerry?? FUCK NO.

The message is loud and clear: If you believe in something, and have something to say on the matter thats an inconvenience to someone, the hammer that is the American Communist government nails you back into place.

Heh, I think thats looking a tad too deep into the issue.  In a public forum like this I could only imagine there were directions ahead of time in regards to questions and behavior, and the kid phrased his 'question' in such a way that was both lenghy and unnecessary.  I would be more concerned if they had just dragged him away from the area without hearing the response that Kerry was willingly going to give, but the fact that he resisted leaves me with no choice but to not feel sorry for him at all.

That still doesn't give excuse to the user of a tazer to subdue him, however, as no one there was in any threat of this kid.

in terms of what he was saying, yea he was sorta being a bit on the "unnecessary" side. He was getting out of hand, and actions were needed for that situation.

That being said, there was no need for the tazer. I think that yea, he was being retarded with not complying with the officer's request, but I counted 5 officers, that should be more than enough to subdue one college student. Any punishment the kid deserves should be with the fines imposed upon him, not being tazed.

Unnessecary? perhaps depends on the perspective. He had a series of questions he wanted to ask that he felt passionate about. They were already up on the guy's back before he was even half way through his questions. Theres a time and place for police force and this was neither the time NOR the place;

If the student had threatened the speaker, or if he made motion to go toward him, or if he appeared to conceal deadly force then yes move on him. There is no fucking reason this should have transpired.. not in a public place to someone voicing his opinion. The school is a public place which allows for freedom of assembly and freedom of speech, well it use to allow for such. Worst thing that should happen to the student is he is removed from the building PENDING if he harrassed the speaker. Fines and / or arrest is excessive unless there are ground rules in place prior to the assembly such as invitation case base only, and if he wasnt invited for example, which couldnt be the case since it is a campus.

Epic fail all around.

Police - need to be educated on human rights if they are to use force.

Kerry - as a "leader" of people he should have manned up and stopped the police from allowing that to happen. I would expect those kind of actions from a Repulican, but as a Democrat that really makes you look bad. He mumbled for them to stop so he could answer the question, but like most other "leaders" he didnt put any dick into it cause he lacks passion about what he does, so the police continued to carry him away, and on top of that he continued to crack jokes about it while a man who feels passionate about what he believes in, is getting "justice" as Kerry makes one liners Carrot-top would be offended by.

Student assembly - For applauding the police when they first carried him away, only to be horrified, as the machine they greased into motion inflicted divine justice upon one of thier own with electricity. Fucking tools.

NOW, I want you to take a look at how Russia handles voices of dissent and you tell me if you notice and dissimilarities between the actions taken on the student, and the Russian woman that was sedated. If you troll enough you should be able to find the video, but this is all i could find ATM..

This kid was over-acting the tazer hit... they hit him with 3 short bursts to let them know they meant business and he kept screaming after it stopped.  You have to realize campus police are a little uptight these days...for very apparent reasons.  Also, this guy is a known prankster and apparently calmed down completely and was even joking around with the cops after the cameras stopped rolling.  It was all a big show.  He was completely successful in getting his 15 seconds as well.
