Some of my faves:

Gungrave
Samurai Champloo
X (Precursor to the next series)
Rurouni Kenshin (Make sure you watch X first)
Berserk (They didn't finish this series, but it's still very good)
Last Exile
Appleseed
Ghost in the Shell (There are 3 Movies that are all pretty good, though they can be a bit creepy)
Bleach (it's an ongoing series so there are a ton of episodes, but it's all quality)
Akira (If you watch anime you'll have to watch this once)
Escaflowne (There is a series and a Movie, while they don't really match up with one another they are both good)
Vampire Hunter D (Two movies)
Gundam Wing (I normally don't like the gundam stuff, but this one was good)
Princess Mononoke
Bakuretsu Tenshi

Those are all I can think of off the top of my head, but there are plenty more. If you haven't seen the ones I listed though, watch them.

Beserk, Appleseed, Ghost in a Shell, Akira, Escaflowne, Gundam Wing, and Princess Monoke are all solid anime - I own all of them Smiley

I know the animation was bad, but The Fist of the North Star was always a fav.

Oh man.... an anime thread!

So here are some of my all-time must see joints:

Macross - Do You Remember, Love? - ZOMG this movie is the shit. Its a movie version of the events from the original Macross series, made back in the mid-80's and is better than most shit you would catch today. Found a fan-sub'd version on ebay a few years back...

Cowboy Bebop Series + Movie: dang. Still a classic. Even bought a Welsh Corgi because of it. Ein FTW.

Ninja Scroll: Forget that "Ninja Resurrection" bullshit. Jubei Kibagami is the man.

Macross Plus: decent series. I just dig all things Macross. Right, Sam (Valkyrie Army)?

Riding Bean: This is some funny shit, for those into the Gunsmith Cats scene.

Anything (well, most anything) by Hayao Miyazaki (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, etc...) is decent. But once you've seen one, you've seen them all.

Anyone catch Perfect Blue? That was a crazy good movie.

Ummm....... yeah thats all i gots. But I am sure there are more.....

I think i have seen that one, one of my old bands and some other bands we played with used to get drunk eat sushi and watch anime porn.

My ex girlfriend tried to host a few nights as well, but it had died out by then.  **edit** We were going to start a folk duo called lair of the overfiend now that I think about it.

Where did you find Bakaretsu Tenshi?  Can't find that one on netflix and I wanna watch some crap get smashed in with a spiked bat.
Make sure you get the X with the samurais and not the X with the winged fairy boys on it.  Don't get me wrong, the not-so-good X is not horrible but is of course.. not-so-good.
p.s. did you know you can watch the dubbed Bleachs on youtube up to.. i think its episode 168 now.

Snacks, Majer owns Spriggan and I own it.. in a way.. it is a good movie to watch.  Also, if you liked Akira don't miss out on Steamboy.

My favs would be:
Excel Saga - definatelya wierd one. The real plot doesn't start until about halfway into the series, and the subplot has a steadier flow. Each episode has a different genre, i.e. romance, horror, B-rate, sci-fi. It's friggin' hilarious.
Louie the Rune Soldier - Good series with good humor. Very D&D-ish with the characters. All around good watch.
Full Metal Panic - One of the better mecha animes, IMHO.
Lodoss Wars - No anime collection is complete without these. Best AD&D based anime ever. Plus, all the names are easy to pronounce. Double Win!
Blue Seed - classic.
Revolutionary Girl, Utena - I don't actually own this one, but I have seen most of the series, and I love it. I want to get it sometime, but anime can get expensive.
Dragon Drive - Great friggin' anime. It's a little slow starting out, but it picks up shortly after that and it's hard to stop watching. I kinda wish they would do a sequel.

That's the top ones I like, but I enjoy most anime in general.

I like anime, and am trying to build my collection...

I own the entire collection of Sailor Moon (5 seasons and 3 movies)
Cowboy Bebop
Ghost In the Shell- Solid State Society
Blood- the Last Vampire

others I like, or want to own
Technoman (there is 3 spellings- technoman, teknoman, tekkamen)
Blood Plus- the series

also, there was this one my sister and I used to watch on tv, when we remembered it was on, but we can't for the life of us remember the name.  I personally thing it was Evangelion something or other...but she's not convinced it was. (Also, its anime, so trying to explain it is difficult.)

I have seen Samuri Champloo (or parts of it anyway.)

I shall give you the ultimate web site to buy anime from
http://www.hkdvdstore.com

its really hard to tear me away from that site...all the pretty anime just waiting for me to buy it...

PS, do not mock Sailor Moon...I mean, in the last season, Sailor Moon Sailor Stars, the sailor Stars are actually women, but go disguised as men while on earth, but transform back into women when they become sailor scouts...o yeah, it  had me confused...until you realise Sailor Moon was not actually made as a cartoon for children...(stupid DiC and editting it...)

Can you describe the anime a bit Ellanorah? I bet we can probably figure it out pretty quick what it is for you.
