(BR still doesn't require manufacturers to make all players support all features which Toshiba did from the start)

I'm sorry, but I always found it hilarious when the hard-core HD-DVD crowd would bitch about this fact.  Think back about 30-35 years ago to Betamax - Sony placed a number of restrictions on how the format would be handled and the rest of the industry decided they didn't want to do that, so they rallied behind JVC and adopted a cheaper product (VHS) with inferior quality.  This time around Sony tries to make everyone happy by not placing restrictions on the technology and people pitch a fit over it.

I know it's a radical idea, but maybe people could actually try and research a product before the buy it.

here's an interesting link on Netflix's streaming media:
http://blog.netflix.com/2008/11/encoding-for-streaming.html

Can't say that I am surprised.  Regardless of what people think about Blu-ray, the economy is in the pooper so luxury electronics sales were bound to take a big hit.

QFT.

...Then, I realized that within the next 5 years, all content will be available in a high definition, digital, streaming format and that physical media is a thing of the past...

I am also looking forward to the day that I can just stream real HD media to my home theater (picture AND sound), but that day isnt as close as I would like it to be. In the meantime, i'm gonna be content with Blu-Ray on my PS3 and some streaming via Netflix on my 360.

Oh wait, was I supposed to flame something? Shiat.
