Gimme a break, who doesn't joke about the Special Olympics? There is a joke to made if only by virtue of the fact that it's called "special". If there wasn't a stereotype or unique characteristic that could be used as a casual reference to how "special" you are at a certain activity, they would just call it the Olympics. Besides, there's nothing more emotionally fulfilling than putting hundreds of go-tards in track pants and leaving them to their own devices on a Sunday afternoon.
